INSPIRATION
A FEW RECOMMENDATIONS THAT HELPED TO INSPIRE MY LOVE OF CREATIVE WRITING

Released in 1933, King Kong holds my fascination to this day. The idea of an undiscovered island where dinosaurs still exist is a fabulous notion. Also love the 2005 release by Peter Jackson.

My favourite childhood film. A fantastic adventure set on the mysterious island of Colossa; land of the Cyclops. Ray Harryhausen's groundbreaking special effects are superb.

Jim Henson and Frank Oz bring this fantasy adventure to life in puppet form. A rather dark, eerie movie set in a world where two forces clash. Packed full of wonderfully clever detail and vision.

An adventure story that needs little introduction. Excellent characters bring this epic fantasy world to life. Highly absorbing plot that continually excites throughout.

One of Roald Dahl's more 'normal' stories. I love the relationship Danny and his father share, their homely caravan, and the daring plan they hatch and carry out together!

Classic good versus evil tale. A brilliant concept with a plot that keeps you gripped. Mr Tumnus is an excellent character and the battle scene is superb!

Very fond memories of this story. The children join Moonface and his friends, exploring the different worlds to appear at the top of their magical tree. Great fun!

Blessed with a unique skills, the six characters in this fantasy cartoon battle to escape a realm packed with monsters and peril. I loved every minute spent watching this. So much fun!

A wacky, bonkers cartoon set in the Land of Ooo. Finn and Jake travel through quirky lansdcapes, interacting with oddball characters including the Ice King and even the stranger Lemongrab. Genius.

Highly imaginative series set on Third Earth, where the Thundercats must fight to survive against the Mutants and a sinister demon; Mumm-Ra!!! Superb intro music!

One of the first books I read that really sparked my imagination. The friendship forged between a Giant and Hogarth, is wonderful.

I took as much pleasure as my son when reading this story to him. The three main characters work so well together as they explore the strange, magical world around them.

Another of my first reads, and my favourite of the series. The part where the children find a cave behind the waterfall blew my mind! (spoiler alert)

Fascinating tale of Duncan and his squire Egg as they travel around Westeros meeting friends and more often foes. The illustrations throughout are also really top-notch.
